Hey I’m curious if anyone has experience with this rod. I fish all 10’ rods but tried one of the 9’ chaos Moab’s a year ago and really like the power of it. My only hesitation is that I have owned a 10’ shock and awe which was way softer than the 9’ sna I also used. Even with them rating the shock and awe a xxh, I found it was underpowered doe mag dawgs and anything above 8’s in the figure 8. If you have used one, is this 10’ Moab powerful enough to throw pounders well similar to the 9’ ?

I have a Thorne Brothers 9' XH with I can throw pounders with little effort at the same time I have a old original G Loomis 7" 10" (mine is 7' 11" if you put a tape on it 7' 10" is stamped on the rod) and is rated a XH if I put a pounder on the Loomis it would be in pieces. With the Loomis I have to lob Mag Dawgs. Rod power is not universal. When I can only take one rod the Loomis gets the nod most every time.

I think that was the whole point of the post - get first hand feedback as to what the capability of that specific rod actually is.

The H/XH/XXH designation has always been meaningless but you would hope that the lure weight rating would at least be reasonably accurate. The 10' S&A is rated for 4-24 oz, but by the above account that doesn't sound accurate. I've held this rod in store and was surprised at how limber it was for the weight rating. Like the OP, I was wondering if the 10' MOAB might be a better option for the medium to heavy stuff.
