Hello all,
Looking for some input on a plan of action for Souix Narrows this summer.
From all I’ve gathered (mostly from this forum). My best shot is to go north and west out of Souix Narrows for some numbers. My current plan is to work through sunset channel towards Astron and Skeet Island working my way towards French Portage and Bishop Bay. I’m guessing I am overestimating how many spots we will run into and how long we will spend casting to work our way over several miles. Option 2 would just be to drive over towards French Portage narrows and work our way into Bishops bay.
Anyone have any opinions on this? Is it better to be in narrows sections of these areas than lakeside? At what point during that maneuver through sunset do we really start hitting the numbers areas? We have been in Narrows area before up to Yellow Girl and a little north. Thanks for the help!

Very ambitious, energetic run. You won’t cover that area very well at all in one day. If just exploring with a stop here/ there fine, if really fishing the area thoroughly your proposed route will take a couple days.

Rosco should add that there sure are benefits to traveling initially.Get a feel for each section, get info on water clarity, info on 'pressure',etc.Clarity and pressure will of course vary substantially based on time of the year.
After that maybe spend a day fishing to and back from Skeet. Then absent good success drive directly to Skeet and fish west and back the next day.All very good water.

Learn an area, your proposed route takes you past 1000’s , maybe 10,000 very fishable spots, and by spots some can be fished for 5 minutes others for 5 hours… look at the map and find an island or complex that you want to fish , draw a five mile radius around that spot…from that spot you could easily fish months. You mentioned summer, so I’ll assume July or August… you could use Gull island for example, draw your radius around that, there are fish holding spots in all directions. I’d personally forget about running to Bishops from where you are, simply because you can’t catch muskies doing 40mph. Good luck!

* An example, back in the early 2000’s I bet it took me 30 days of fishing to really learn monument bay, there were so many good spots, and spots you only found by Really fishing the area… seeing the lake is fun so it sort of depends what your goal is, catching numbers constantly means you need to really know the spots

Good advice from Dick and Justin, above. Running all the way to Bishops from Sioux Narrows is a bit much. Frankly, it's not necessary as you'd be driving past a ton of productive water. You really don't even need to go all the way to Skeet. Yes, that area has decent numbers but so do other areas along your way and in that general vicinity.
