Made up my mind to get a Swimbait Special to throw some 9" shads for some bigger pike but would love to have a lighter rod to complement it as well.

Now all of their respective model names are fairly explanatory in their intended use but one I don't got is the Slop'n'Tail. Same goes for the musky Tournament Top'n'Tail (assuming topwater and bucktail). Who's behind the engineering for these pike rods? Seems like they get zero love here in the west.

The LT Pike series are aimed at european pike anglers.

That is why alot of sites, even in the US, have the specs of the rods listed in metric units.

You might want to get in contact with Florida Fishing, they are the distributors of St-Croix in Europe and, as I understand it, their pro staff played a big part in the deciding the specs of these rods.

Howdy,

I got four of them for my daughter and they are great. They run a lot lighter than they are rated for.

Case in point, the heaviest rated telescopic swimbait rod is good for blades up to 7/9 triggers and maybe an 8 inch crankbait. She has them paired with Tranx 300 reels and 65lb braid and the four actions she has cover everything from 18 rapalas up to smaller Muskie lures.

NOTE-none of them are as stiff as a top-n-tail.

Take care,

Ruddiger
