| Looking to buy and/or build a 7/9 Trigger bucktail, and I've noticed a variation in the shaft on front end behind the "eye." In many photos, it looks like the shaft immediately behind the front loop is angled - anywhere fro 45 degrees to what looks like 90 degrees on some photos (such as on Team Rhino website). However, on a video promoting the bait, it looks like the shaft is straight, like any standard in-line bucktail.
So which is it? Did the design change, and now is bent? And how angled is the bend (45 vs 90), and how does this affect the action? I've not thrown one obviously, so I don't know what to expect. Looking for any comments on folks' experience here with this bait.

Location: NorthCentral WI | The couple I have came that way right out of the package. They are bent somewhere between 45 and 90 simply to prevent the bait from rolling as it comes through the water. The same tactic can be used on any bucktail that is not already keel weighted to minimize shaft rotation. I'm guessing the promo video you saw is old because they're all bent. |

Location: Seymour, WI | The staggered blade sizes give this bait a nice roll as it comes through the water. I like it better than a regular bucktail. |

| The blades won’t fire as well with the straight wire since they fight each other and just make the bait roll. But bending it up at the end will make it harder for the bait to roll and makes the blades fire and spin more clean. When buying a trigger they do tend to struggle to spin as they run a leader sleeve below the clevis instead of a large solid bead. They say it makes it squeak but when I build mine I use the beads as I prefer my blades to spin right away and not spend half the cast trying to rip the blades to spin. |
