I've been in a spirited debate with a bunch of Reddit guys about the value of a lure lot and a large Lakewood box. The OP asked if the asking price of $350 was reasonable. I said "Oh yea." and almost everybody else said "No way!" What do you think...

Sure hope these pics post...

Are the Nay sayers saying to ask more? That's a beginners dream buy right there. Without the box that's $6.73 a bait.

No, they say #*#* like "I wouldn't offer $50." or, "Everybody knows you shouldn't pay more than 10% of original cost of any lures." or, "You can get those at a flea market for a buck each." And there were a couple comments about "Musky guys overpay for everything, so they gotta ask way more than what it's really worth." or "Your (me) opinion is based only on "your perception" of what it's worth." I tried to point out that many of those lures cost over $30 new, the big Believer retails for $56 right now. The Topraiders cost $40 each. And the lures all look brand new, no hook rash. And the guy selling knew his stuff, those are all proven, desirable lures, good colors. The last guy I responded to said, paraphrased, "LMAO! You can catch any musky with a $2 spoon."

I told the OP to break the collection into lots, keep the half he wants and sell the rest to recover most if not all of his investment. Told him to post them on M1.

Flea markets!?, give me a break. Every form of second hand reselling outfit I've ever looked at for deals is the exact opposite, they're overpriced. Might be just the area I live in though, markets influenced by weekend warriors buying used musky baits to decorate their lake cabin with.

All you need to do is spend 10 minutes on the Musky Shop website to see that it would cost you thousands of dollars to buy those same lures new. If I had the extra $350 I'd buy them in a heartbeat, and I already HAVE most of those lures.

Flea Markets? By the time you went to enough of them to find that very same collection of lures you'd probably have spent $1,000 in gas.

If your friend doesn't want to bother trying to sell them he can always donate them to a local MI Chapter and take the tax deduction.

A long time ago a friend who at the time was the international President of Muskies INC got request from a man who father died and wanted to sale al his late fathers Muskie gear. (he didn't live in traditional muskie Country) He gave the guy 500 bucks and kept the rod and real combo and the tackle box. then three of us put in a 100 bucks and took turns picking lures. The 300 bucks was donated to Muskie INC. I drew first pick and took a Red bladed blacktailed Eagletail and never used it, I ran into George Wahl and he signed and dated the blade with a sharpie. I still have lots of those lures and my Dad caught the biggest Muskie we ever caught and a lure from that lot. It was a good win for everybody. (this was 25 years ago.)

The term flee market is really a facebook group (musky flee market) dedicated to the buying and selling of musky equipment. tens of thousands of members belong to the group.

Reddit is its own planet.
Little to no value regarding the input received there in my opinion.
