Didn’t get the glasses and it’s cloudy out so I’ll just stay inside.

Looks like a normal cloudy day out here. Seems like a lot of overblown and overhyped nonsense to me.

We had 94% Totality down here. Bright and sunny, to sunny and not so bright. We got a chance to look at it. Yep. Eclipse. I wouldn't rule out traveling to somewhere to see a total eclipse, because I'd bet those few minutes are pretty remarkable, but If I'm still around for the next one I'll be too old to go anywhere. I've been thinking about how ancient civilizations must have reacted not knowing what was going on. People must have thought the world was coming to an end!

In my nick of the woods we had 65% with was better than we had last October, so my second partial in a few months. So when I bought my Eclipse glass I got a two for one. This was better then October, first drop in temp and the birds really come to my bird feeder. In Aug. 2017 I made the trip to Scotts Bluff NE. from Denver for that Eclipse and we saw a total! It was worth it. That year most of Denver went straight North up to Casper WY. and it was mad house 8-12 hour drive. I drove a hour east on HWY 76 then North a hour or two North on a small state HWY by a old fishing spot no problems except it was a mad house in Scotts Bluff took over a hour to get breakfast at McDonolds. When I got home I was drinking Beer and watching people on the news stuck in traffic for hours on I 25 in Wyoming it pays to know the back roads sometimes.

I am a little surprised by the enthusiasm some have for the eclipse. But, it is good fun for those that enjoy. My sister in Alaska and her husband took a bush plane to Juneau, then flew to Seattle, then to Vermont where they met with my brother-in-law's sister and the three of them went to some town where it was going to be 100%. She said when they booked their motel room a couple months ago, it was $200. Last week the remaining rooms were going for $700.
We had heavy clouds here, but you could tell it got darker over the lake. Hope all that traveled had a good view and a good time.

I took a nap. With all the cloud cover I figured I wasn't going to see much anyway.

Howdy,

My house was right in the 100% zone of totality range and we watched it this afternoon. Despite rain this morning, we had bluebird skies for the eclipse, which is pretty strange for northeast Ohio this time of year.

It was very cool to see the entire event. Once it was in full totality with nothing but a small corona 360 degrees around the shadow of the moon, you could literally look at the sun without any of the special glasses on (there was so little light that was visible that the special glasses were too strong and blacked out everything.)

The light sensitive street lights came on, a chill was in the air as the sun was gone and you could feel the temperature drop. The nighttime bugs were chirping and the birds were singing like it was sunset. After 4 minutes a tiny amount of sun started to come out, it made the special glasses essential again, and things quickly went back to normal. Very surreal and well worth the time!

Take care,

Ruddiger

Got a photo from my 3 year old grandson's daycare. They had all the kids sitting on the black top parking lot to see the eclipse. Each had a pair of eclipse glasses, with a wide elastic band holding the glasses firmly in place. The kids sat with their hands on their knees, I am guessing so that the teachers could tell quickly if they were to reach for the glasses. Having worked as an HR manager for well over 30 years, I could not help but think how hard it would be to get a group of 15 adults to follow the rules so well, even when you have the authority to fire them. Not sure but think the teachers may be wizards in civilian clothing, with wands hidden in pics they show parents.
