Has anyone heard when the Daiwa Lexa 500 will be available to dealers and consumers?

I use mostly Lefty Tranx 400's and have always been envious of the Right-only 500 models, so I'm thinking I'll have to try one of these out this season if available .

Was hoping for something like a lefty Tranx 500 but the Lexa 7.1 only has 38 inches per turn, while the Tranx 6.6 has 43. So the Tranx is both easier and faster. Not sure why Daiwa would make a big reel with a smallish spool.

Kudos to Daiwa for being the first reel manufacturer for building a direct competitor to the Tranx 500. For years, I thought it would of been Penn. Kdawg

I have two Daiwa 400 size reels. Like them a lot. Wondering what folks plan on using the 500 size for.

I use my Tranx 500 (PG) for large rubber or plugs or Double 10's. Last fall I used my Tranx 400 (PG) for Cranks and Jerkbaits along with some Bondy's. I like System 13 A3 for small stuff. Something like the Tranx 500's are heavy but back in the day I fished Ambassador 7000's before going to the 400B.

I still throw a 7000, probably my favorite reel of all time.

How I understand it the 500 lexa has the exact same internals as the 400. In my view the whole benefit of the tranx 500 is how durable it is compared to any other reel on the market. The ability of the tranx 500 to take a beating is what makes it worth the size, not really the line capacity. The 400 lexa already has plenty of capacity, with the 500 being the same reel with a different spool I don’t see how it would be beneficial for a musky fisherman over the 400.

Huh. If that were true, than you'd be putting increased load on gearing designed to turn a lighter load right? I'm not suggesting that the current gearing can't handle it, just seems a little odd.
