I love me some water in 50's and falling! Baitfish, perch, walleyes are shallow, the last "easy bites" of the season!

I fished Thur - Sun, worst muskie fishing I've ever had. Only moved a couple of small muskies in four full days of fishing.

Have the Lakes in Northern WI started to turn over?
I know different lakes start at different times.

Jerk baits and twitch baits having been working quite well for me in the past week. Good luck and tight lines!

Was up on Armour Lake in Presque Isle for Friday afternoon/night, it rained on and off with lake effect rolling thru. Basically it would downpour on and off every 20 minutes or so I put on the rain gear and just fished off the pier, the bite was pretty hot and the water was steaming. Caught a couple smallies, some nice perch, a pike and then quite a few eyes after dark. All action was on jerkbaits, perch were on fatheads. The plan was to bring the Lund up and stay for up 3-4days & chase muskies all day and eyes at night but with the bad timing of the cold front coming thru decided to just cut it short and go down to Adams county and go bow hunting for few days and not deal with turnover conditions. Wish it would've just stayed warm for three more days was really looking forward to fall musky trip on Armour...pshhh oh well next time!

Got up to Tomahawk area Thursday, water temp was 62. We fished Friday and Saturday in the wind and rain. Moved a few fish on gliders and Suicks. Water temps dropped to 58-59. Fished Sunday and Monday on flowage water. Fish were in green weeds next to river channel. If there was cabbage mixed in it was a plus. Water temps dropped there to 53-57 depending where we were. Sunday my partner got a 44” skie on a hawg wobbler and I got a nice 30” pike on a flap tail.Had a fish smack a suick on Monday while twitching it slowly over the cabbage but partner didn’t get it hooked up. Not a great trip but the cold NW winds and rain didn’t help us any.

The water temp dropped 8 degrees in 1 day? I have never heard of that before….is this a small shallow lake?

Nope. 5,000 acres, but it's been pushed by 30 mph winds for a week, first south, then north.

Went for a hike yesterday on a state forest trail that crosses a trout stream a number of times. While I no longer trout fish, seeing that beautiful stream and the color all around, with no fishermen, couldn't help but think how nice it would be to be fishing there.

Definitely less people on the water nowadays. Noticeably less.

MEA starts today, and there is a 4 day youth firearms deer hunt plus an early antlerless firearms season going. Lakes will be mostly empty here because everyone is going to be in the woods or fields.

If you like ruffed grouse, this is the best year I've since I've started hunting over 30 years ago. Dry warm spring = good chick survival.
