Location: oswego, il | I was watching one of the latest Today's Angler videos and I kept hearing this noise in the background. They were stock cars! Sounded like a dirt track too. I found that to be pretty interesting. I've heard Wilmot running while fishing after dark on the Fox Chain and Silver lake. Other than ABC in Ashland I'm not sure what other track is up in their neck of the woods.

| West of Eagle River off of Hiway 70 there's Eagle River Speedway (back when I was a teenager in the 70's it was K G Raceway)
Out on any lakes in the area on I think Tuesday or Thursday night you could hear the cars from pretty far away. Had some good times out there back in the day. |

I went there once in think back in 1998, last century,lol. Odd track with a dog leg on the back stretch. I remember a guy running a Studebaker Hawk in the street stock class. |

| I was there in the 70's talk about a long time ago, There was one guy who won more then most and besides that I remember Jerry Sobiek SR. North Twin Fishing Guide used to race every week. |

| Wilmot is still running? Wow. I remember hearing that track every Saturday all summer long fishing Silver Lake as a kid. Grew up near Santa Fe speedway which was another one you could hear every weekend. The local property owners decided they no longer wanted that sort of thing in their neighborhood, and closed it down. It's a subdivision now. Went to the track out at Sycamore some years back thinking the late models and demolition derby would be like I remember it where you leave the stands with mud in your hair. It was pretty lame compared to what they did back in the 80's.

Location: oswego, il | Rockford has one more event the Bahama Brackets then it gets bulldozed. Very sad.
I can hear Grundy County Speedway when I am on Heidecke and they have mufflers. I'm on the other side of Morris.
I grew up right next to the Oswego drag strip. Some people love to wake up to the smell of bacon, I'll take those old big blocks any day. |

Location: Vilas County, WI | Eagle River runs Tuesday nights now. They put on a good show; really cleaned up and improved the property. Car counts are a little low but still a good time.
Tomahawk runs on Saturday nights. Those are the closest two tracks around Vilas County.
TNT in Three Lakes was a high bank dirt track that went to auction. Not sure what their future is. |
