The lake I fish has been hit pretty hard by milfoil the last couple of years. Any tips on how to fish this? Through it with a spinnerbait or jig? Along the edges? Avoid it altogether? Wondering how the fish are adapt and change their behavior as a result of this change in their environment.

I fish it like any other weed, Depth Raider, Spinnerbait, or unweighted 10" Suick.

Muskies love milfoil. For the most part fishing the edges and above the weeds will be productive...it is pretty hard to to get lures through it. That said ripping a dive n rise or rubber thru it can really productive at times.

If traditional baits aren’t working, try popping a jig and creature through. Tigers especially like to bury in Milfoil.

Millfoil is tough but as stated Muskies love it. Weed walls make great ambush edges. I mostly fish the edges but if there are lanes to cast beyond and around do that. Your hooks will get weeds on them it's part of it. When that happens give the bait a couple hard snaps to clear as many weeds as you can then burn it back. Doesn't matter if the bait is no longer working burn it like it's on fire and you have to put it out. I've had quite a few eats doing this.

Milfoil near deep drop offs can be really productive in the fall. Just have to learn where to place your casts (to not get hung up). Well worth the extra scrutiny.
