nothing wrong with fishing alone. I fish alone 75% of the time. Nice with 2 for launching but that's ok. The pictures are always in my head that's proof enough.

I basically fish solo 99% of the time and here’s what I do - I carry a mini flexible tripod for a phone or a suction cup holder that I’ll place on the windshield or gunnel of the boat. After the fish is safely unhooked in the bag, I’ll place my phone in the holder and start a video. When I take the fish out of the net, I hold it in front of the camera for 5 seconds then release the fish back into the water. Then later I go back and take a screenshot of a good frame from the video for a photo. Easy and doesn’t take any more time than just releasing the fish.

Nothing wrong with pictures if you do it quickly and safely. I don’t bump smaller fish now, but I used to. How else does a new angler learn to approx the size of a fish when they see one.

Tripod is the best way to go if you want pics solo and I know guys who do it and get great shots. Personally I do not mess with it. I just turn my video on and set the phone on the floor leaning against the front at an angle and pull the fish out bump it and then hold it up and kinda move toward and back to the camera for 10 seconds or so and then release. Typically you can get a decent screen shot doing this. Solo fishing I only do this on bigger fish 45+. When fishing with partners we usually just release with no pic unless it looks 40 or bigger. If it has been a tough season we may take a pic of a mid 30-40 just to get a little slime smell in the air.

I fish alone the vast majority of the time, and don't want to try to mess around with some sort of selfie, so I only take a picture if I'm fishing with someone else. I do take at least one picture when fishing with someone else, no matter what kind of fish it is, because my niece is always wanting me to send her a fish picture. She's as happy to see a blue gill as a 4 footer.

How abut putting the fish up against a bump board, shows: size and fish, but not yourself.

With my luck, while I take the photo, the fish would flop and bonk it's head.

I've migrated to using video on the selfie portion of my phone and then screenshot when fishing alone. I think that's the easiest way. I still take pics I enjoy the memories of the trip. I have on occasion not taken a pic because I felt it wasn't good for the fish. There are no wrong answers here, it's all up to the individual.

Shoot, I just took a pic of a nice 44 I caught the other day. Next time I will log on here to see what I am supposed to do with my fishing life. Hard to keep up somedays with all the rules on how to live ones life accordingly to a another persons standards.

I still take pics of all my Musky. However, I'm sure I don't catch as many as most. I enjoy looking back and sharing with close friends. I enjoy looking at pics in the Lunge lounge or those shared to me by whomever. I can understand the liberating comment however. For me deleting all social media off my phone was liberating. Sure don't miss that drama

No rules, sorry if I offended you.

My point was, maybe we take a few less of the ones we have caught over and over. BUT, if you like pics, take all you want. It's like so many other things in LIFE a personal choice.

Was just an idea...you don't like this idea, cool. A little much to be offended by it. But, sorry if I was offensive.

Goodness sakes. Do you also get bunched up when someone recommends a brand of electronics different than your preferred one? Didn't notice anyone dictating rules to live by.
