| Has anyone else had problems with their Musky Hunter Magazine subscription?
I renewed my subscription in March 2022 for 2 years and my account on their site shows I am paid up through April/May 2024. They stopped sending me new issue notifications and I did not get June/July 2023 or August/September 2023.
I contacted them using their email address and got no response, I called their 1 800 23 MUSKY number and got a message that it did not exist.

| I can't make myself pay for any on-line correspondence like a news letter or magazine. This dog is to old to learn about those new tricks. I'll even read a real newspaper from time to time.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Businesses fail. I can tell you from personal experience that many muskie businesses don't advertise much. Never made any sense to me, because those who did before the paradigm shift did quite well and a small, select group still do. What brands are the most active businesses in the muskie world today?
Many went to social media, yet few work with an expert there to maximize reach and engagement, which increase sales. There's a right way and a wrong way to run a social platform if one wants an ever-increasing fan base. Yep, the muskie business repellant again....advertising.
If we relied strictly on advertising $ to keep this place live (and remember, we have zero subscription income) we'd have been gone a couple of years ago, and OFM, as websites go, is most certainly not 'small'. We even rank number one in several categories on Google. Our partners these days are looking for our news and info publishing component and the views we acquire there. Guaranteed, if we had been magazine-based, we'd have gone the way of the dodo. |

I did. After the last issue of the mag it was 'adios'. I enjoyed lying in bed paging through the magazine at night. Definitely have my fill of screen time during the day!
Oh well, still have In-fisherman to page through.... |

| Newsweek magazine stopped publishing right after we paid our year's subscription. Sports Illustrated cut their number of issues more than in half, also not long after we paid our subscription. When MH went digital, I said goodbye. I subscribe to several online newspapers but that is it. |

| Howdy,
I saw Gregg at the angle this summer. He didn’t look overly concerned about the magazine as he was either guiding or socializing. My guess is it’s DOA at this point.
I too was in the group that renewed their subscription (for two years) only to have them kill the paper magazine shortly thereafter. Sadly, it wasn’t much of a loss as the new regional focus, “authors” I never heard of, and articles the size of a cocktail napkin, pretty much killed Musky Hunter long before the transition to digital did.

FYI, Muskies, Inc. publishes Muskie Magazine 6 times a year. Lots of good articles plus the benefits of membership in the world's largest muskie fishing club for less than fifty bucks a year. m
MI magazine is a quality publication for sure, very well edited. Plus you get a really nice calendar equally well edited and laid out. |

(we don't need a magazine there's Musky Hunter and Esox Angler) that was the talk on the board twenty years ago. Members complained about the cost. Back then it was a monthly publication. |

I still get In-fisherman magazine, Muskies Inc. magazine and then also went out of my way to subscribe to Fur-Fish-Game and Gray's Sporting Journal. Enjoying all of these. |

I get the Muskies Inc. as well, but of those other 3, which publication would be your first recommendation to a muskie fisherman? I also hunt and just straight up enjoy nature related articles. I just don't want to subscribe to something that's 80% about bass,walleye,and whitetail. |

In-Fisherman doesn't have a muskie article in every issue, but most issues do. But yeah, it's multi-species. Lots of bass, panfish and walleye content. Most articles seem well-written and they seem to do their research.
Fur-Fish-Game is almost entirely hunting and trapping, fairly sparse as far as fishing content goes. Although, there always at least 1 article on angling. Most of the articles are of the "how-to", informational/instructional, more practical content. Honestly, I don't hunt much anymore and don't have any experience or interest at all in trapping, but as you say, I like outdoor/nature type topics and have enjoyed paging through it.
Gray's Sporting Journal is quite a bit different from the other two. Rather than being informational/instructional, the content is in the form of hunting or fishing-themed short stories, essays, memoirs, poems, etc. The writing is quite good and every issue also has some amazing photography. Generally, it's heavier on hunting content than fishing content, but I've enjoyed it.
If I could only keep 1 of the 3 subscriptions, I'd definitely keep Gray's.

Yes, it would have been. Won't reply to inquiries but will send out MH clothing emails (received one this week). Not a good showing if you want to be continually supported. |
