| I have a Minn Kota 318 charger in my boat, all bought new in fall of 2019. At home, at the cabin, hotels, etc I have never had an issue. Two weeks ago in Canada, my boat kept tripping the GFCI. Same 50' 12 gauge extension cord I use at home, which is also a GFCI outlet. The resort owner even changed the outlet while I was up there to make sure it wasn't a bad outlet. Batteries hold their charge all day, so I don't think it is that. I have checked all the terminals and leads and didn't seen any issues. I saw on another forum that there can be issues with a boat in the water vs out, but didn't explain. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could/should check before I take it in?

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Use a voltage tester and see if the hull is hot. Happened to us, a rogue hot wire got loose against the interior. Kept blowing the breaker on that outlet at the resort. |

| Try another extension cord. Also try plugging in charger without cord. Amperage draw on a long cord could trip a GFCI. I have had power tools trip breakers on long extension cords not trip when directly plugged in. May be a failing end on the cord also. |

Location: north central wisconsin | After looking into the above stated potentials, could disconnect on bank at a time, to see if still happens/identify bank/battery(be careful to insulate the ends of the newly disconnected bank.

Why would anyone do this. Not trying to be a pain but it sounds a bit silly to have a system wired like this. BTW good luck. Its likely an intermittent short. Check all wiring for loose stands,, poor connections, etc. Some how +Vdc is finding an unwanted return thus likely tripping the breaker |
