Location: PA Angler | So I’m thinking of building another rod and can’t decide on one piece or two pieces. Also the length. I like my 8ft which is one piece as I think it holds up better casting the bigger baits but I also like my 9ft fly rod (4 pieces) cause I think it helps fight the fish better.
Thinking of going to a 10ft two piece.
So what’s your thoughts and opinions. |

| do you know what lure type & weight you want to cast with it?
What rod blanks are you currently looking at to purchase for this project?

| im not sure what your planning on doing with it. But if i could only keep one of my rods it would be the St. Croix long ranger. 8'6 is just a great length. Short enough i can target cast with it, long enough thats its good in figure 8's. Great for regular bucktails, cranks, spinnerbaits, topwaters, i also use for Suicks now. |

I fish from shore so would like the extra length but powerful enough to help with heavy currents and cast the big lures. Also would like the rod to stay together as I fished a two piece before and had it come apart luckily I got the top half back but it was on a lighter rod. |

Regarding the 1 piece vs 2 piece decisikn, that will ultimatly be dictated by your logitical needs. One thing I would think about would be if a detachable handle option would be a good compromise.
Regarding rod lenght, I consider longer rods to be superior. A 9 to 10 foot long rod is nice due to how the lenght helps with casting distance. |
