Can't seem to find where I read that Piscifun will be bringing out a 400 sized Alijos in June. Has anyone else heard or read any info? Of interest, I also noticed a 200 sized Torrent 2 now available in the 8.1 gear ratio. If the slower ratio of 6.6 to 1, I'll probably be in on that model. At only 7.2 ounces, makes a nice downsizer reel or a starter reel for kids. Kdawg

Have a piscifun fly reel on my trout rod. Definitely is cheap. Seems to be working good only thing is I can’t stand the drag. It’s either to loose or to tight.

There is a Piscifun facebook page that has been posting some info about their new stuff. The 400 Alijos is supposed to be released at the end of May/beginning of June, so probably June at the earliest. The reel specs are in the fb page. It looks to be a similar size as the Komodo SS 400's. I was hoping for something closer in size to the Tranx & Lexa TW/Prorex 400's.

Any price point been given? I'm a Facebook hater.

I don't think they've stated a price yet. I think I'll try one if it's as inexpensive as the rest.

Usually, if I have a negative business experience with a brand, I refuse to fish the gear, but this is an exception. The 300 is a very solid reel at an incredible 99 buck price point and can be regularly bought for less. I'll try one for sure.

Price point is supposed to be around $150 or less. My only 'complaint' from the pictures is I wish it came with different handles and/or an actual power handle.

I actually think the guys at Piscifun did it right with the counter- balanced handle. If you have seen some of the reviews with the 300, it seems the only, I'll call it a concern, is that with the power handle, if it was positioned just right it may move forward engaging the reel while the lure was still in flight. Not good. Knowing that the 400 would more than likely be used with larger, heavier baits, the counter-balanced handle was a good choice to prevent that from happening. A real good sign here, at least from my perspective, was the designers at Piscifun, in this case, were listening to the fisherman.

I still wish they had the option to buy an actual power handle separately. The lower gear model looks like a great big bucktail reel, but prefer longer arm power handles for that application.

Not the reel you guys are asking about but I have heard really good stuff about the cheaper low profile musky reel that penn makes. At least another option in that lower price range than has been out for a year or so now and has some good reviews behind it.

Looks like the reel has hit the market, retailing for $129.99. A great price for a 400 sized bait caster. Kdawg

If the reel holds up great but as a young man in high school I wanted the 1970's Amb. 6000C and my dad got me a Penn reel and I ruined it right away. Later I got Amb. 5500C,but I never got that 1970's black 6000C.

Believe the cheaper model is the Squall, the higher end is the Fathom. I've had a Fathom now for 2+ seasons, and have really been enjoying it. It is also holding up very well. I use it on my big rubber rod and it has held up to ripping and cold weather, up until freezing. As with most reels at that point the line guide is so small it gets clogged with ice easily. Haven't had an issue with internals freezing.

As I understand it, squall is same design with cheaper materials - could have an effect on durability.

I have bought 6 300's, 3 as gifts. The 300 Alijoz seems to be equal to a 300 Tranx. I purchased a 300 last year for a back up to my back ups. I decided to use it first, and it worked flawlessly. I've done 3 bucket list trips recently, and I've caught so many large fish mainly using the Piscifun Alijoz 300 and the 4000 Carbon X spinning reel. The 400 reel initially started at $129, and is now at $149. You can now order for a 9/20? ship date.

Are you guys that run the 300 spooling them with 80lb or are you stepping down to 60? Just wondering if there is enough capacity for 80.

I have 80 lb PP on both of mine. They were spooled a couple of years ago, so don't remember exactly how much, but I believe it's right around 100 yds or a little over.

Ordered a Alijoz 400 at the beginning of Aug. Received it today. Initial impressions are the fit and finish are very good. Reel is smooth and the clicker (which won't get used unless I need to switch out a Okuma trolling reel) is pretty loud. We'll see if I hear it on the boat (I suffer from CHS). The spool has a neat little pin to attach the line to instead of wrapping it in tape and tying a loop. Since it's a 400, I'll still back it with mono.

I'll update more once I get a chance to set it up and fish it. Hopefully, this weekend.

How is sizing compared to a Tranx or Prorex 400? It would be awesome to see pics comparing it to other common 400 size reels

The Alijoz 400 is larger than the Tranx & Prorex/Lexa TW 400's. It is similar in size to the Lexa HD 400, and the Okuma Komodo SS 463/471.

Well dog gone! I was hoping for a size similar to the new Prorex. I'll probably stick to the 300 size Alijoz
