Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Look up bass boat central recommendations. I used bassboatcarpet.com and would not recommend. Bucktail blades have left burned spots in the carpet. I used the 24 oz variety. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | When I did my boat a few years back, I got the carpet and marine glue then got a pro installer from the local carpet barn to put it all in for me. He had the tools and techniques that I didn't. m |

I know many new boats have rubber/vinyl floors, and those look like they would be a good alternative to carpet. Is that something that can be put in an older boat? My carpet is decent but my boat is almost as old as H2O's and hopefully I can fish enough years to need replacement. |

I know a guy who used truck bed liner to replace his carpet. |

Location: Duluth | I'm an aquatraction fan. Just put meranti plywood covered in epoxy/vinylester as floorboards. Paint and then slap some aquatraction on it. Floor and foam will last as long as the hull if done this way.
If you can swing a deal like Mikie that seems like a good way to go. |

The Aquatraction is what I saw on a high end pontoon at a dealer. Really liked that, but doesn't look like anything I could begin to attempt and don't know of anyone around here that would install. But, I have a couple years, maybe that will change. |

Thanks. My carpet is really in pretty good shape yet and I keep in clean but I can't imagine it will last too much longer. |

| I would scrap the carpet idea and go with an alternative surface. The non-skid vinyl/polymer that comes as an option in many boats now is vastly superior to marine carpet in many ways. If you plan to keep the boat long term, this is what I'd do.
I'll never have carpet again in a boat. I've had the hard surface in my boat since 2015. Its so much easier to clean and maintain than carpet. Doesn't get slippery when wet, doesn't stain, and is not hot in the sun either. Think about it like this: what is easier to clean and maintain in your house? Carpet or a hard surface? The same logic applies in the boat. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Buddy of mine had an Alumicraft. The carpet would absolutely eat hooks; once you got a hook stuck you nearly had to cut it out. Bring a sharp hook with you when you go to the carpet shop. m |

Location: 31 | I would prefer carpet over the Ranger rubber floor ~ mainly because it's hugely uncomfortable while working under the dash, or kneeling on it while rooting around in a compartment or whatever.
When/if the carpet wears out I would just replace ~. good idea checking the carpet with a hook.

| Jerry, I understand what you are saying about the hard rubber floors. But the Aquatraction flooring feels cushioned, claims to have closed cell technology. The pontoon flooring felt like it had give. Cincy could probably give you a better idea of what it would be like to kneel on that. |

Location: 31 | NP, to each their own ~ I'm probably just set in my ways and started hating it when I was originally rigging the boat (laying on carpet is much more comfortable:).
The rubber floor gets more slippery than carpet after a little northern pike slime.
