Crestliner Fish Hawk
Lowe Fishing machine 1800 SC
Alumacraft
Lund 1775 Adventure eventhough it's a walkthrough

A bit more for a lund impact xs 1775?

Other? TIA!

The walkthrough might be your friend (or your passenger's) on those big wind days. I fish solo from a 1995 Lund Adventure Series Pro Sport 1700 and I often think it's more boat than I need. But I stick with it because on those long runs home from trolling Lake Michigan, that walkthru design keeps us dry and on plane. Since you're talking all LOTW, and you may have some long runs, you may want to consider that 1775 Adventure. I cast from the back deck when alone and can look at both my dash and my bow graphs from there.

I have a fishawk. It can be a wet ride but fishes very well and I have a rear deck extension which for the boat is an easy build. I would also weigh what part of lotw you fish as well as time of year. If you encounter cold and rough water conditions the more you should learn towards the Lund unless you can get a dual in the other boats.

Is the Lund that much better and does it provide a dry ride vs an Alumacraft? I've rode in an Alumacraft 1750 or 175 competitor on Lake of the Woods and it was a pretty decent ride in bigger stuff. I don't remember getting soaked in some rough weather but a lot depends on how you drive the boat. I thought the 2XB hull ran pretty good for tin.

If I had the choice, I would personally go Alumacraft. Best fishability, imo. Rode in a few on windy days and never felt worried about getting wet. Lund is obviously very solid in that aspect as well.

the wind sheild debate. I takes up a lot of room is a sail as i catches a lot of wind afffecting boat control and drift speed. It is nice on cold days
but on hot days when you want to cool off it on a short boat ride it is not so good.
no wind sheild for me i wear gore tex

If I read the OP's moniker and tagline correctly, a teacher who spends summers on LOTW, school year in Wyoming. The fact it is for almost exclusive summer use would seem to reduce the need for a full wind shield.
I run an 18' tiller but am on much smaller water. Keep a pair of ski googles on board in late fall, coming back even 10 minutes in a snow squall is hard on the vision in a tiller, but the goggles take care of that (snow pellets are the worst). Otherwise, thank goodness for modern foul weather gear.

Yup. I really am impressed with the IPS hull design. Keith is running an 1875 Impact this year, and ran a 1775 last. Great boats.

Fish hawk is a muskie machine. I have one and would probably buy another one for my next boat. The alumacraft is very similar though. Can't go wrong with either.

The adventure 1775 is available in SS side console or Sport full windshield, no?

The Adventure does have a 1775 SS that is side console, but it limited to 90Hp where the sport (full windshield) is 115hp.

I just got the 1775 Adventure with 115 Merc this season and it fished LOTW well. The rail system is very useful to switch between casting and trolling quickly. The jump seats in the rear also help keep an open floor for moving around. Storage of 9'+ rods isn't the best but what 17' boat is. I was between the Alumacraft or Lund. The Lund being available compared to a possible delivery date on the Alumacraft is what ultimately pushed me to Lund. Let me know if you have any Lund Adventure specific questions.

Wow youre right. The SS must be lighter and that makes the difference. It's not rated lower due to control issues like a tiller would be since theres a wheel. Interesting. Continue on...

If you come across a used Yar Craft 186TFX for under $50k buy it. You'll never need or want another upgrade.

Whatever you end up with make sure to add smooth moves seats ! I fish LOTW a little over 2 weeks a year and they are a must have! Besides my Ulterra, it’s the best ad on to my boat!!

2018 Skeeter MX 1825- I would recommend this boat, but looks like you are staying away from fiberglass.....

Good luck, looks like a few nice options to consider

Have you ridden in a Crestliner on a fairly rough windy day? I would suggest doing that before you buy one. I had an 1850 Sportfish for 9 yrs, fished Lake of the Woods a lot. This was a 2001 model that I bought new, but I do not think the hull design has changed much since then, could be wrong, but that thing was a one VERY wet ride. Look at the rear of the hull and the size of the spray rails on the Crestliner, Alumacraft, and Lund and you will see more flare to the hull and larger spray rails on the Alumacraft and Lund, which should give a drier ride. Don't know anything about the Lowe. After my Crestliner I bought a Ranger Reata 1850, which was a lot better, and now have a 620, which is great on big lakes like LOTW. If staying with aluminum, I would get the Lund or Alumacraft.

Thanks for the help guys. I wanted to stay away from walk throughs, but I also have never gone fast enough currently to need the spray protection. I wanted the casting deck space, and ability to go the full side of the boat to figure eight or fight a fish if needed, but maybe that's not as important as a windshield. I'm on Snake Bay on LOTW for what it's worth. Again, thanks for the info.

I have the 1775 Adventure side console and take it to LOTW for a week a year. I would not get a full windshield and I would not let the 90HP deter you from the side console. The boat has PLENTY of get up and all you're losing is a few mph off top end, guessing 40mph vs 44mph. I can get an adult (a snobby one at that) up on a slalom ski, no problem. Can't speak for the other boats you've mentioned, but the Adventure would make a great boat for LOTW. Impact also terrific but had a bit less floor space for family stuff, but I think they have jump seats now?

I'm actually thinking about the Lund Adventure 1775 side console.
I had some questions if anyone had one:
Does anyone know if three agm30 batteries fit in the trolling motor area?
What is the height from the floor to the top of the jump seats? Trying to see if my justencase box will extend the casting area seamlessly.
What RPM are you hitting going 25mph, 30mph?
There is a cover for the rear ladder, can you order a cover for the other side to extend the casting area?
Anyone recommend a good dealer in the Kenora/Winnipeg area to order from? Or other if they'll deliver to LOTW.
Anyone have luck with dealers honoring the price on Lowe's website?

TIA!

Pretty sure the only way you'll get 3 batteries in the rod locker is to move the onboard charger, which should be manageable. 15" to the top of jump seats. No idea on RPM, never pay attention to that kind of stuff. There is a "splash pan" that covers the ladder and is usually standard on the other side. There is a Lund Adventure facebook group you should check out, pretty active and good folks there.

I put a Just Encase deck box in the back of my 1775 adventure sport. I think its the 24x16 size. This makes a great casting area from the rear. I rarely spend time up front even while fishing alone. The just encase is slightly taller than the rear deck but close enough. I also ordered the rear splash pan.

The boat is designed for 2 batteries for the trolling motor. If you moved the onboard charger around, you could probably fit three. I have a 24V lithium set up and have never run out of juice. 24V move the boat well. 36V would probably be overkill.

Pretty set on a Lund Adventure 1775 90hp, placing deposit on Monday. Any thoughts, must haves, or other boats to consider? Just trying to make sure the choice is right, TIA

Summer School, I've been new boat shopping for the last year or so myself. I've looked at all the models that you have listed, but in the 17' series.
I have a questions for you. Where are you at when you say sub $40k?
All of the boats that you listed are over $40k and probably over $50k.

Get what you can afford with the features you want most. My first boat was a Crestliner 1750 SC fishhawk. Sold it because of newborns and needing to buy a bigger house. Got back into fishing alot more kids are older and like to go fishing now. Got a Princecraft nanook 168 w/mercury pro xs 115. Got it in the winter last boat in stock new models were coming out blah blah. 22,000 plus tax OTD. needless to say im very happy with the boat. I had to drive a few of hours to get it.

I ordered a Lund Adventure 1775 90hp. I'll pick it up in Ontario in June. Hopefully the dollar stays strong against CAD, currently it's going to cost $35k usd. Thanks for everyone's help.

Sounds great. Hope you have a great summer with the new boat, you deserve a good summer after the COVID years.
