Have you contacted some of the reel repair folks frequently mentioned here? I'd give Mat's in Eagle River WI a call, if Thorne Bros. can't come up with any.

I wonder if some of the parts are inner changeable with 400B, less start up $ when the TE came out.

It's been a few years since I've broken any Shimano products, so forgive my ignorance here... can't you just call them and order new parts?

All parts for TE reels have been discontinued by shimano unless they fit other reels. This happened 4 or so years ago now.

Yes it was, very nice reels. I still have a 401 that doesn't get much use these days.
