Location: Northern Illinois | I've seen this on a couple of lakes over the years where a lake has beautiful healthy wide spaced cabbage on its flats or bays and the next years it disappears. It's either not there anymore or replaced by coontail mixed with other highly condensed species of weeds. Is this a natural cycle? Does it come back fully at some point?

| I have Fishing Hotspot Maps from the 70's showing a bed on lake X and spot 1, and a newer revision of lake X will show accurately no weed bed on lake X if the weed bed is gone. I have several maps like this where the weeds are gone. |

Location: Walker, MN | Here on Leech Lake we are starting to get some of our cabbage weeds back, we had almost none for 5-6 years. The Rusty Crawfish exploded, then slowly the system adapted (nearly everything that swims eats them). Hopefully the cabbage will continue to fill in over the next few years. |

| One of the lakes in the small chain I live on had a cabbage bed disappear, rusties were suspected, but not sure because the traps did not catch high numbers. Cabbage has not really come back yet in that spot. Good to know it may still do so. Not only musky, but crappies really liked that spot. |
