This will be my first time fishing that lake. We are going with a guide so probably just roll with his program! I believe we will be casting, but trolling won't be ruled out. I really want to cast! Any advice or general do and don'ts?

My 9 year old daughter and I just fished St Clair last Thursday with a guide. We trolled as she can’t cast those big baits. Went 6 for 8 in 7 hours with 2 Pike and 4 Bass as well. Muskies were 46.5,48.5, 49, 50, 52, 52-1/&”. Epic trip to say the least. Everyone wants to cast including myself but I’d take a day like that trolling any day!

Yeah, I figure we'll be mostly tossing medussas, bulldawgs and poseidons etc. Anyone have a favorite color (probably depends on water clarity and such).

BL special was invented on LSC. White and walleye also good colors.

Make sure you do figure 8's every time and pay attention for the late arriving followers.

From watching Muskie Hunter Hulbert throws white, black, or gold. Berman throws the fore mentioned BL (black, white belly orange tail)

Yes BL Special or Ball Licker is a great color on LSC it was not invented on LSC
It was invented by me for the Madison Chain over 20 years ago I had Brad Ruh make them custom for me.
Sucker and Orange Tail walleye are great Dawg colors there also.
Double 10 Spankys also put alot of big fish in the boat on LSC casting and trolling.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the advice! Button was an awesome guide, and I definitely look forward to fishing with him again some time! We spent 2 hours casting, and my uncle has had multiple surgeries so he couldn't take much more. I had 3 follows and probably should have converted the one as she was fairly hot, but just wouldn't eat! Then, we trolled and put 8 muskie in the boat with a couple 42's being the best fish! Great day and I'd say my first time ever on Lake St Clair was definitely a success!!

I'll add that there was an increase in fishing pressure as I think there were 2 tournaments this weekend so lots of guys pre fishing on Friday. All in all, my uncle and I were both very pleased!!
