I am curious to know what others have experienced with length of bite windows. Of course, many of us specifically fish during known feeding windows such as sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, and major moon periods, but those windows tend to be short-lived (~30 minutes tops). The other day I had a bite window that lasted 2.5 hours, and I was able to get 5 Muskies to hit during this period on a relatively high pressured lake.

Anyone else ever experienced anything like it?? It was the first time in 15 years I’ve had a bite window remain wide open like that for 2.5 hours. I was fortunate enough to capture it on GoPro too. Check it out if you’d like:

Thanks,

Had a crazy one on Eagle lake back in the day. There was a storm from the west that collided with one from the south. NeVer seen rain and thunder and lightning like that anywhere. Afterwards, we had an hour plus, raised 46 muskies, there was 3 of us in the boat and had several times all 3 were getting a follow at the same time. Sadly we only caught one, not even sure how that is possible, but it was the craziest action I have ever seen.

I've had bite windows super short, I've had them last all day even in a downpour. Weather, time of year lake/river conditions can all play a factor. The more good circumstances lined up the better it can be. I've had fish bite between the majors and minors and it be dead during those times even on a stable day. I've also seen it spot on like it's supposed to be.

Whoa! I can't even imagine raising 46 fish in a day let alone within such a short period of time. Amazing more of them didn't commit to eating!

I caught my first Muskie on the first cast of the and day and my biggest Wisconsin Muskie first cast of that day and my nephew got legal one on his first cast and sub legal on his second. I had a day in Canada I had 15 fish up on a Chart/Chart Rad Dawg nothing on other colors or lures then my day was cut short when a Northern drove a hook of Shallow Raider thru the side of my finger and out the top.

One time my partner and I boated 4 fish in probably less than 15 casts all on the same spot. Right away in the morning at new moon/moonrise. The time it took to unhook and reposition the boat was the only thing holding us back from probably getting another couple fish. It was crazy. I miss those days. Haven't seen anything that even comes close since then. I believe it was 2012.

Yes Kirby I second the vote on these fish becoming conditioned to our lures!

Calm fall day switching to some bigger southerly winds produced a longer window for me last year.

Looking back at my log last September 21st in a 4 hour window, we raised 25 fish. Caught 6 and lost 7 all on top water. It was by far the best I’ve experienced.

There’s a couple spots I know of that during the spring when water temps are right the window can be all day. Some cloudy days in fall also. I usually get the hungry ones right away then it may take some work for others. My best was pulling in 2 but losing like 5 or 6 in a day. For the most part in the summer or hotter days the bite window is short just like sundet or sun down than that’s it.
