Location: Athens, Ohio | Howdy. Last year, one of my favorite type baits broke clean in half - a Muskie Treats (see pic of one). It is constructed with screw eyes epoxied in, no thru wire. Fortunately (or not!) it broke on landing in the water and not on a fish and I got both halves back.
There is a finishing nail at the tail that attaches to a rubber grub. The thought of triyng to drill it out and get the front eye out with little damage concerns me. Otherwise, I'd consider using my buddy's wood shop to drill it out and put a wire thru. I'd still have to find a way to put in a peg to supplement the glue I use on the grub.
Any ideas are appreciated, you guys know more abt this than me. thanks so much, m

| It could be fixed I think but would not be easy, but one thing to think about is buy fixing it more than likely the sink rate and action will be affected. |

Location: PA Angler | Are the eyes still attached? So the tail is what is broken off. If that’s the case drill the end out and put a little screw in it cut of the head of screw then attach the rubber tail by spinning it on. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | No it's broke right in the middle of the bait, so I have abt two equal pieces with hook eyes on them, That would be a long screw and I would have to be careful not to crack the bait. This bait rides a bit high so if I have to add a little to it that may not be a problem. m |

Location: PA Angler | I get what your saying now not sure how to get the hook eyes attached to the wire but you can get the body attach by drilling it out if can and running a thick spinning wire shaft down it bend a loop both ends in top half then bottom bend a loop for middle body. Run a split ring end with wire coming down with a eye hook loop to a smaller treble. It won’t be solid though. Is the only thing.
For it to be solid maybe glue then run the wire all the way down somehow.

Location: Athens, Ohio | I'm not so concerned abt tying in the hook eyes as to a thru wire as I am abt just getting the two halves back together and strong enough to hold a fish. m

Location: PA Angler | I would think a good strong epoxy would hold it together. Then get the wire down the middle and just bend both ends. Looks like everything thing else should hold. Is this a plastic or wood. |

| Mike, if it were me I would use the water proof wood glue to reattach the then light sand the epoxy coating, repaint and then 2-3 new coat of epoxy on the entire bait. That wood glue will really surprise you, the bait will break apart some where else before the glue gives. I believe we fish some of the same lakes and would be more than happy work on it if you want to send it to me.

| twist wires will hold it. Similar to how one would make a jointed bait.
i can send you some more details if need be. basically make twist wires. Drill holes into front side of bait for twist wires. put a short piece of wire in there that you can use to transfer that hole location to the back side. Then drill those holes. This should have you perfectly aligned, then twist up wire long enough, epoxy all back together. shouldnt have much of an effect on action at all
