Posts: 88 Location: Des Plaines, IL | I was hoping some might offer thoughts on four bodies of water. Going with the family, two young boys and my wife, for a week from July 9-16. I will probably fish muskies really early and after dark, otherwise we will look for anything that bites. We've got options on Little Saint Germain, Big Arbor Vitae, Lost Lake, and Fence Lake. Any of those stand out to anyone? My fishing will be secondary, I'd prefer the kids have fun, but certainly if one of those offers good opportunities for action from all species and musky, that would be wonderful. Thanks in advance for anything you might share!

If you Google the lakes you can get the WDNR description and if you download the Wisconsin Musky lakes PDF you can look up their Musky class ratings. Big Arb is A2 action water for sure. Not sure on lost and little saint but they are considered action as well. Fence is A1 trophy water. Edited by ToddM 6/21/2022 7:53 PM

Posts: 1356 | Are you booked yet? On some of the more popular place's lodging can be tight this time of year. I have fished in Wisconsin in the summertime in years in fact most resorts I've stayed in the past are no longer resorts. Last year I took a trip and couldn't find a place on the water for a full week turned into a non fishing trip. Ended up a night here a night there all off the water did see some nice the sights and ate at some old favorite places but no fishing. This was late August. Killed me to be up north and not fish.

Posts: 619 Location: Seymour, WI | Big Arb is an excellent fishing lake for all species including musky. Very good perch and walleye fishery. Nice camp ground on the south shore of the lake.

Posts: 88 Location: Des Plaines, IL | Thank you all, we actually got lucky and are ending up on the Manitowish Chain, so I'm looking forward to that very much.

Posts: 1356 | Manitowish can be a busy place, but so is a good restaurant as my nephew the chef would say "if you go to a restaurant on Saturday night and there's no cars keep going" Good place to fish and you'll have fun.

Posts: 20212 Location: oswego, il | You will like the Manitowish Chain. There are areas to get away from the crowds and some lakes are less crowded than others. I did catch two Muskies back to back on clear. Edited by ToddM 6/30/2022 5:17 PM

I couldn't believe it last time I was up there. Saturday night, middle of summer, restaurant was empty. Even the bar was empty! I didn't expect a $40 bar tab for a 3 day weekend like in the old days when we used to close the place down at 2:00 am every night, but wow.
