Just wanted to stop and say hello. We just sold our place over by Cable WI and bought one on a lake close to Minocqua. I was told about this forum by someone at The Musky Shop in Minocqua. Thought I would drop in and say hi. Really looking forward to fishing this area this summer. Looks like a lot of good fishing.

Welcome to Vilas County!

I fish a bit further North, so I'm not all that familiar with those lakes but if you ever venture up near Boulder Junction let me know.

Hey Steve I might take you up on the offer. We got to pick the house not the lake so we ended up on Arbor Vitae. I hear it’s not the best lake in the area for musky but does have some hybrids. We won’t be up there until mid June due to planting and livestock at our farm. Planning to spend most of the summer months up there exploring.

Big and Little Arb are both great musky lakes. You are also in a great centralized location meaning you can go in any direction from there and have almost endless fishing opportunities.

Awwww, but Cable has so much to offer ??. They just built a ridiculously overpriced restaurant there with 6 menu items and your entertainment for the evening depends on how many fingers of mid to high end fingers of whiskey you can drink. Sit back and place your bets as to whether or not the bartender breaks anything fetching the ladder from in back to get to pyramid of whiskey.
But in all seriousness, have you spent much time on Lake Owen or Lake Namekagon?

Our old place was on garden lake and fished namekagon for a lot of years. I spent my summer months as a kid fishing there when my grandparents owned the cabin. I remember the bait shop would hold tournaments and my picture was up there a few times. Back before it was the loon saloon. Can’t for the life of me remember the name.
I want to say Cravics maybe but I’m sure that’s not the correct spelling. I enjoyed fishing that lake a lot. Loved getting walleye off the island out in garden.

Steve, that may qualify as the understatement of 2022.

I saw it was only going to be in the low 30s today. Hoping they turn on the heat up there soon.

Off topic are there any good dock builders in the area? If you have recommendations I’m all ears.

The high for Rhinelander today was 27, not to mention the couple inches of snow. Lovely spring day here in the northwoods.

As a live long Packer fan living Colorado in the days before Sunday Ticket there was a famous Packer bar on the west side of town between Boulder and Golden and every time there was a long cold winter in Wisconsin the next fall there would be a new family or two in the bar to watch the games. (can't take it anymore ice on the lake in May too cold) Then I'd ask them "Do you fish? No! Good thing if you moved here.
