Some of my fondest memories were of fishing with my Grandmother Moschell on Clearwater Lake in Minnesota. As I recall,. boats were wooden back then. I'm glad my son Jon got to fish with my mom before she passed, too.
Thanks for the flashback in the memory pool. m

Well hard to believe my last grandparent died in 1996 it was my dad's mom and she had not been fishing since my grandpa died in 1986 and mom's mom died in 1979. I came home after class in my first semester of Jr. College and was talking to mom and grandma and my grandma was eating peanut butter and she started choking so I saved her and everything was good then a week later she was in bad shape mom took her to the hospital and he died a couple days later. All the meds she had to take over the years did her in. I lost my dad and best friend in 2016 my mom is close to 88 and is fading. My brother in law came over helped me fix some ladice that blow over in the wind. After he left I forgot it was his birthday. (he's 75)
In late June we are going to take me on a camping/fishing trip in the high country. It will give me a break from taking care of my mom and I think my sister does not want her husband off alone in the forest at his age.

My grandma wasn't big on fishing but she sure loved to eat them ! She was also a champ with a fillet knife in her hands too. Coming back with a limit of crappies always put a smile on her face.

She's been gone 20 years now, but I'll always have wonderful memories of her always being around as I grew up.

A champ with a filet knife. Your grandfather was a blessed man!

Seems we've gotten off topic...

First off, congratulations Mikie! Glad to hear you and Mauser are still at it.

Now for my grandma story:

Anna Maria Island fishing pier, sometime in the 80's I think... Grandma had gotten sort of feeble, but she was determined to go fishing. Wheel chair and all. There was a lot of hook baiting and fish removing on our part, but she could still reel. It was an uneventful day until I looked over to see her rod bent over and her reeling like mad. Hey, grandma's got a fish! Nothing special, but a fish just the same. She is also being mobbed by several hungry pelicans. Next thing I know she's yelling and for the first time in my life so far, swearing. (!!) She starts swinging her rod around like a sword, yelling "you son of a ____! Gimme back my fish!!" Pelicans got the fish, but they took a beating for it. When it was all over, she had pelican poop in her hair and her lap, all over the wheel chair. That was enough for grandma. Back in the car, grandma's still mad, trying to clean herself up. To this point nobody laughed (on the outside anyway) when she suddenly says "uuugh! The #*^@ things #*#* in my purse!!" We literally had to stop the car because we were laughing so hard.

Great story, EA.

But I'd argue the topic was the OP's hilarious confusion.

As God as my witness I thought the OP was kidding. Then I looked at the picture again. I know Mikie so it didn't phase me the first time I saw it, but the second time? Sorry Mikie, but I can honestly see how one could make the mistake. Guess I shouldn't poke fun, though. I ain't looking young and chipper anymore, either!

My folks used to love Anna Maria Island and Fast Eddie's Place there. Great Seafood, thos their motto was "Warm Beer, Lousy Food." m
