My Komodo 364 is rated at 31” per crank. Is this number based on an average between an empty spool and full spool? I’m trying to put an exact amount of line on so I can maximize the braid, and not be left with a spool that doesn’t have quite enough fo a final reel fill.??

Thanks!

It's based on a full spool.

If I want, say, 100 yds of braid and have a full spool, I measure 100 yds of line, load that on the spool, then fill the rest of the spool with backing. I then unspool the reel and re-tie with the mono on the inside. Once reloaded, I have a full spool with 100yds of braid on the outside. You can also swap the braid end for end once it shows some wear. I can't imagine needing more than 100 yards of braid on a casting reel. I typically use 30lb mono as backing.

If your looking for maximum speed to the limit,,switch to 65lb test Vs 100 or 80 lb has that will lose less diameter after the cast,,not much but if you want the option

Put on 10 yards of mono and fill the rest with braid. As the braid gets worn and frayed, cut off what is damaged and put more mono backing behind. This wastes much less than when you cast to the knot and have to throw away 45 yards of braid.
