Posts: 184 | Greg, I hate to inform you, but Kinkaid is frozen right now, not the whole lake, but all the coves and launch ramps. My buddy and I are going to break a lot if ice to go goose hunting tomorrow. I plan on starting up at the same time frame you are coming down, so lets keep our fingers crossed. Go ahead and email me when we get closer and I will let you know if it is open. Chad [email protected]

Location: Woodstock, IL | Kinkaid is indeed open. Spent last Friday (2/20) on the water with Chad Cain. We had to bust a little surface slush at the launch, but the rest was wide open. Had one miss right before a massive cold front blew through like a freight train. Didn't see a thing for the rest of the day or Saturday. Surface temp was around 38 degrees and the shad are stacked up in the shallows around Johnson Creek. It felt great to be back on the water! Edited by dpratt 2/23/2004 10:27 AM

Location: Woodstock, IL | dhook - The gizzard shad were stacked up in the northwest corner (Johnson's Creek) area, so that should be your best bet. Use the brightest, loudest crankbait you've got due to the stained water. I was using a bright yellow jointed Believer, as well as a Swim Whiz. Good luck! Edited by dpratt 2/29/2004 8:55 PM
