| Howdy,
I have an opportunity to fish Wabigoon sometime this fall and was curious how late in the season I could push it and still have a successful trip casting.
Recognizing that winter eventually sets in, and acknowledging the fact that I no longer like to troll for Muskie‘s, I’m very interested in going up, however, I’m worried that there’s a point of no return were casting is simply no longer effective.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Take care,

| Hopefully you get someone that has experience on Wabigoon chimes in, I have none there, but plenty of late fall experience, casting in a variety of water clarity (I too prefer not to troll if possible)...Catching muskies casting when water temps dip into the mid/low 40's is generally challenging, windows of action are often very short .....late fall when water clarity is really low adds another level of frustration -IMO....they'll certainly still bite, I remember many years back catching a really nice 50"+ fish late October on a lake that had terrible visibility , however I also remember we almost gave up becuase 10 hours into the day, as we hadn't caught or seen anything and the lake just felt "dead"...that one fish was just the kick start any muskie fisherman needs. -HA! ...we fished the next day nothing..dead....so even though I caught a nice one it felt like luck and I have no intention to ever fish that lake again late fall.. Maybe Wabigoon clears up some late fall? And if you are bringing your boat you could always bounce over to Eagle if it isn't going well.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I fished it yearly for 30 years, and did really well casting all the way into middle October. |
