Location: Vilas County, WI | Anyone ever been to the Moose Lake Campground east of Hayward? Any opinions or thoughts?
We are looking for tent camp sites near Hayward for a couple nights in August. We always bring the boat with so waterfront sites are preferred. We are flexible on dates and can do weekdays to find an opening. We also don't need water or electrical hookups at the site either.
For the above mentioned Moose Lake - are any of those sites waterfront?
Any other recommendations in that area would be appreciated as well. Thanks! |

Location: S.W. WI | I have not been in that campground, but fished that bay. I remember seeing a few boats docked right near a few sites. Not certain, but I think there are a few that nay be lakeside.

Location: Miller time Wisconsin. | I used to fish that lake 20 years ago. Gravel roads to get to the campground, boat launch right close to sites. There are waterfront sites. Coffee colored water, good action oriented for muskie, chartreuse and orange baits are key, also a decent walleye fishery. Lots of submerged wood. A resort on the opposite side of the lake for beers, burgers, ice etc. All of this info is from year 2001 and prior, but I doubt much has changed. I always enjoyed fishing Moose lake, caught a lot of muskies but nothing big. Post up how you did when you get back. |
