Posts: 3 | Hi All, I currently have a tranx 400A with the 5.8:1 gear ratio and the double paddle handle. I have read that a lot of people end up putting a power handle on the 400A to pull bigger blades. I am considering picking up a 400AHG. I am wondering why the AHG comes with the power handle but the 400A doesn't. It would seem to me that the 400A should have the power handle and the 400AHG should have the double paddle handle, given that the 400AHG is for baits with less drag anyway. If I pull the trigger on the 400AHG, is swapping the handle with the 400A a dumb idea? If I put the double paddle handle on the AHG, would that be a mistake at all? Alternatively, I could just buy a second power handle and use them on both reels. Thanks for any thoughts.

Posts: 3 | Thanks for your feedback. I would be fishing any heavy pulling baits on my 400A, everything else on the 400AHG. So no issue with putting the double paddle handle on the AHG? Would I be losing any capability or anything on the AHG by dropping the power handle from it? Thanks for your time

Posts: 3 | Thanks RLSea. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't handicapping myself by going from the power handle to something lesser. Take care

Posts: 59 | Hi Rob_D i'm Rob C! Anyway, I prefer power handles for pretty much any reel that I use for muskies. The only exception to this is if I'm using really small baits, but if your throwing small baits you probably arn't using a 400 for that.
