I am taking two of my grandsons to Eagle Lake in September providing the border opens. One is able to handle what I will call a normal size set up. The other is a smaller boy and struggles with this size. It’s not for lack of trying, the size of everything just limits what he can do.
Could anyone recommend a combination they have had success with for a smaller but passionate child?

TI used to make a 6' rod for younger muskie anglers, and a 30 size reel with 50-60# line worked well.

You can also look for a shorter used musky rod. I bet if you put up an ISO on the buy sell someone would have something. I started my kids on heavier bass gear. My oldest caught a 46 on Vermillion with 6'6" st.croix premiere rated for 1oz and a shimano curado. He was throwing a lac suel mini turbo.

Yep, my kids used a 6'6" Premier with a revo toro 50, works great. After a year or two, I upgrade them to a bit longer rod like a 7'6" so they can work on their figure 8's.

My daughter is 6 she can cast no problem. I have her using a tranx 300 and a 7’ Mh rod
She has caught several musky on this set up

Thanks for the feedback. Shorter rod and smaller reels should do the trick. All I have is 8’6” and longer and didn’t have smaller to try.
I’ll try the buy sell ISO.
