I have a couple of reels with 130 lb braid on them. Just wondering how this would effect the lures for trolling? would the bigger braid just have them run deeper or will i have other problems to? Or should i switch to 100lb or 80 lb?

Go with 80#, and move the 130# to your sucker setups..

Rule of thumb - heavier braid makes lures run shallower (due to water resistance) and can deaden action especially smaller lures.

While I agree that larger dia should make a lure run shallower with longer set backs,I don't think it would be much of a factor for short line trolling. I would assume lure action would be more controlled by the leader and with flouro most used I think the diameter would be much thicker than your line. Some of us dinosaurs still use wire leaders. I have rods spooled with 80, 100, and 130. 130 is my go to for big water trolling but I also like wire. I like 100 for casting and also have it on rods that will cast or troll which I use on Jon boat canoe water or when in someone elses boat and don't carry a lot of toys. I started using 130 when my dealer was out of bulk spools of 100 and found I liked it. For some situations I still like mono.

I run 130 masterbraid for trolling and suckers. The lures run at about the same depth as 40 lb mono. My trolling is almost entirely big baits - can't really say if it hurts action on anything smaller than a giant flatstick. Everything I've tried looks normal to me.

Overall I'd rather use 100 lb and when this line wears out I will switch.

all manufactures make the lines at different diameters. So 130 of one may be 100 lb of another
if you are using planer boards the thicker the better. If you trolling big baits Mattlocks and HeadLocks
130 will have little effect. If your trolling 8" buchers it might have some effect
