i have a 96 stratos 219f, where i will mount, the transom is 21" looking at ordering a new kicker, and deciding if i need a 20 or 25" my worry with a 25" is it will drag on holeshot. I probably wont leave the kicker on unless i plan on trolling.

Hiya,

20 will be plenty enough as when you are running the kicker, you will never be on plane or fast enough that the prop will not catch.

Assuming this has a modified V in the back of the transom or is it a pad transom? If modified V, you'd be all set with a 20"

20" is fine as long as it's just outside the middle 1/3 of the hull.

ended up with a 25" because its all anywhere had in-stock that wasnt 200+ about MSRP. its a 2021 9.9 merc.i have ordered a tie bar set up for it, but i got to thinking, is it better to lock the motor straight (this motor has that capability) and steer with my terrova? i plan on ordering a trollmaster pro3+ wireless for throttle control. it seems to me like control would be better by steering from the front. Pardon my neophyte trolling questions, i am, quite new at it.
