I'm looking at a beaver river rat. Just wondering what color patterns people do best with topwater. I know its a generalization but if you had to pick a pattern what are you picking?

My number one color for topwater lures is black. Next is black with an accent color, say an orange tail, or Loon. Firetiger is probably my next choice, followed by bone.

Thanks a lot. I think I'm settled on the black with orange head and accent

Location: oswego, il | White is a good contrast with black for topwater as well. |

Black with an orange or chart. tail are my favorites. I fish tailspin topwaters a great deal of time (probably too much).

Timely question. I just ordered a couple. For top water I decided to order a custom color. Going natural - brown head and tail with brown over yellow body.

i like to have two colors. A black of some sort for darker times, cloudy dusk etc. And one greenish one of some sort for brighter conditions. I have caught a lot of muskies on a bullfrog top raider during the day.
