| Thinking about getting a thorne brothers MH predator rod for smaller baits, double 7's, single 8's, micro double cowgirls, lipless cranks, etc. Also maybe being able to use this rod for spring pike before muskie opener. I have a 9'6" H predator with a lexa 400HD 80lb braid already and does fine with smaller baits, but was wondering if its worth it to add a MH with a 300 with 65lb braid to arsenal. |

Location: Zimmerman | I really like my pred mh for working smaller baits like single mepps, but have found it loads up a little in figure 8s. Recently I had a pred h minus 2” made up after talking with the rod guys at thrones about what I was going to use it for. My thoughts after that rod were that a mh minus 2”, or something like that would probably be the prefect rod for those smaller baits. Call and talk to the rod guys, they will be able to answer any questions and make suggestions. The 300 sized reel would be perfect. |

| I have a MH Pred with a 300 Tranx on it, originally it had a 300EJ. It does all that you are looking for. Realistically the H Pred you have will do everything the MH can do at about the same level. Cutting 2 inches off the MH essentially gives you an H Pred so if you are looking to get something different that would not be the way to go IMHO. On a side note the MH makes a great Frogging rod for big bass too. Another option that would cover a wider spectrum of baits would be to put a smaller reel on the H and get a H with a couple off the tip; that would give you great differentiation and the 400 reel would work well on the H -2.... |
