Hey guys, Im looking for any guys who may have purchased one or more of my Little claw baits from Smokeys this past year. I need some news or feedback as to what kind of success guys are having with them. I dont make a lot of baits each year so there are not many out there but it sure would be cool to hear from someone who has caught a fish on one. Drop me an email or something.

Kingfisher, I hadn't seen them in the shop, but to be honest, there are alot of baits in there. Check with Shep or Mike's Extreeme to see if either of them have your baits.

What do they look like? Could you post a pic. I will have to look out for them next time.
good lungen,
Joel

KF, sorry to say, I have not used one of your baits. Yet. I will check them out this coming year, and post results. Do you have dive curves for the bait?

I would like to try them also. Never got wind of them. Too many baits at Smokey's to choose from.

Its the place to go for muskie tackle in South East Wisconsin. Actually his web site is being improved and will be one of the TOP internet bait sites.

You got to check it out. I buy all my tackle at Smokey's Muskie Shop.

I agree with Mike, if Smokey's doesn't have a bait, it is because the maker hasn't finished making it yet!

Yo,

I bought 2 of them in May, one in FT and a purple....absolutely loved them.......what is nice about them in that you can run them down in the 6-8 foot range without a problem and twitch twitch twitch..........

There is a great story behind that bait too that involves a case of beer and testing a Fig Rig rod off Smokey's pier...........

Hi guys, Thanks for the compliments and for the email as well. The story about the cast off the pier at Smokeys was pretty cool. I will have to get a hold of Eric and get some of my new colors over there. We did real well with them this year ourselves. Tan Perch has been the hot one over here. I have several versions of this bait. The one Smokeys has is equiped with a 1/8th bill and can be casted or trolled. I have a shallower running model with a 1/16th bill that is also shorter and narrower. It has been my best producer casting but will not troll. It will turn completly sideways when side arm twitched. This sideways presentation has proven to be deadly on following fish. I also have a weighted version countdown for deep structure. All the same body . I will have many new colors at my site this winter so drop in and visit. Thanks for the input guys. Im working on a new bait this winter simular to the S.S.SHAD. wire thru. Im trying to come up with a thinner super shallow shad because the S.S.is a little fat. Im working on a thinner and shorter floating shad that will be easier to break loose from the teeth. I lost 40 lber this fall on a S.S. Shad due to teeth penetrating the wood. I was using spectron braid and a heavy action jerk bait rod and hammered the fish twice and she was never hooked. I had tooth holes in the bait 1/4" deep. I like that bait though but I need a thinner one like it so its off to the work shop. Tight lines all, Kingfisher

Shep, sorry I didnt address your question on dive curves. I dont have any exact running depths but I can say the 1/8th billed model in a floating will get down about 9 ft on a troll 50 ft back. The thin billed models wont go deep at all 3 ft max unless you get a countdown model. I can customize any one the models like add weight to a troller to get it deeper and faster. More weight decreases action at slower speeds. If you want a speed trolling tight wobble sink it with lead and run 6 to 7 miles per hour. I have a ton of prototypes here that do all sorts of weird stuff. I got one that swims in a spiral pattern even upside down. My best ones though are twitchers for shallow weeds. They work in the top 2 feet with a lot of turning sideways on the sidearm twitch. The ones at Smokeys are the tame ones. They work real good at both trolling and casting but I dontcatch as many fish on that model over here in Michigan. Our new Rippin Shad is a real good troller and we have a lot of new colors coming to our site in the next couple weeks. Kingfisher
