Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | What bait is destined to be THE ONE that gets the center of attention this year? Last year, the DDD was the hot bait, with a couple others taking a very close second. Looks like the bait proved out, too! This year the Wabull is making some noise, and H2O has some kick fanny stuff coming. Zalt has been busy, Musky Magic has a couple in the fire, and there are rumors of new baits from others, too. Who is building a new bait this year? Which one is going to be the ONE for 2004?

Posts: 802 | not sure how readily available it's going to be, but madison guide lee tauchen has a topwater bait he said he'll be selling soon. i got one this fall and it's a sweet thing in the water; best description i could give is crossing a hog wobbler and flaptail. steve

Posts: 136 | I like the Wabull but that's because I make it. Phantom Lures has a somewhat new product that will be very limited. I think it will ba at the Chicago show. Optimum lures has some new plastics that will do some damage. H20tackle will be hot. and the other mentioned above. Many new lures will be on the market. I think the overall HOT lure will be diminished this year because so many will be "new". All I know it is good for all of us....

Posts: 20218 Location: oswego, il | The lures mentioned above will make some wakes no doubt. I just thumped through the new bass pro catalog and optima has some new swim baits that will go right at the bulldawg market. I am working on a non-buzzbait rubber ducky inline topwater bait, who knows maybe that will be it.;-)

Posts: 688 Location: Northern IL | I'm gonna go with a bait that has good "depth control" as well as speed control, again. Did someone ask the fish what they might prefer for 04,, ha, ha. They haven't changed in thousands of years so I don't think it's gonna happen next year. Happy new year to all! Edited by jerryb 12/27/2003 11:13 PM

Posts: 1462 Location: Davenport, IA | The Madd Dogg P-ron-aH gliders are awesome baits. They are the easiest glider to work too. There isn't anything else like it. Musky Innovations Twin Fin will be cool too. (kind of a double tail bulldawg) Edited by Schuler 12/28/2003 8:41 PM

Posts: 1937 Location: Black Creek, WI | The picture Handyman posted is H20Tackle's new NITRO glide bait. The thing is awesome. However, the color pattern in the picture will soon be OUTLAWED if I can twist Roger's arm hard enough (heh heh). Glide bait lovers will be killing to get there hands on these in 2004.

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | I gave handy that lure(pictured one) a couple weekes ago for helping me put in a sump pump in my basement(Jeff keep that thing under cover dude!!!!! LOL). I just ordered a replacement for myself along with another one for Handy as hes helping me with a couple more home improvement projects(thanks again!). I had awesome luck with that lure in the 8" this summer with alot of fish on it, and was lucky as I was one of only a couple with it. I know it will be hot again in 04. I just have to explain to my wife now what all these check stubs to Roger are for.......(yeah,..... I'll say I'm selling them,....ahhh.... yeah thats it). I got lucky and got a topwater from Roger at H2O this summer too just before my honeymoon to Canada, and it really worked well and moved some nice fish. Very unique action flaptail design with a lexan lip for wobble. Excellent hooking setup on it too. The Zalts were awesome this year(my buddy got over 60 muskies to 49" on them this season) and they have beefed them up for 04 which is nice. There are a couple creepers being made for me right now that I think are going to be dynamite this season as well!!!!!
