| Using Tranx 400s with St. Croix rods and was wondering what rod holders will fit the Tranx I know the down East is liked by a lot but it doesn’t have a lock I was looking for something that might have a lock. Thanks. Mark

| I use a Folbe it has a lock but o don’t use it once the rod is secured in the holder I don’t believe it will come out until you lift it straight up. Hasn’t failed me yet |

| Npike I looked at a Scotty Orca the other day and it is built big but I noticed that there was no cutout for the tang on the bottom of the rod, I wonder if you could cut one to fit? |

| I had the DownEasters for years and I really liked them. However, I just recently switched to Folbes for the following reasons:
1. Seem to be easier on my rod handles (non Marring)
2. They will tilt better over my boat gunnels.
3. They are quieter.
4. Easy to take off when not in use, whereas I had my DE permanently mounted.
I have to admit that it took a lot of research for me to go with a plastic rod holder for Musky. However, I did a lot of reading etc and hooked them up on my boat. I bumped them and pulled them from all directions in a way that I thought was much harder than a musky strike or snag would be. I was concerned the rods may not stay put in the holder, but they did. Also this is very strong plastic. I think if your drag is set correctly you will have no problem. Now lets say your drag sticks on a snag. . I would say your rod or line will break before these rod holders. Or perhaps your hooks might straighten out. . but the rod holder would be the least of my worries.
I have no idea about any of the other plastics mentioned, but the FOLBES are the real deal.

Location: St. Louis, MO | If you have limited space or ability for rod holders on your boat, this is an awesome setup that I found from a striper guy on youtube. Gives you the ability to take 1 in gunnel holder and make it 4. I bought 2 for my boat and then putting 3-4 Amarine 1"-11/4" aluminum gimbal mount adjustable holders onto each of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSau-iYqAXg

| With a low profile reel your options will be limited. Strange people say that the down east chew up rod handles, the rod handle should never come into contact with the holder ! True you get a little marring on the reel seat but this is easily remedied with a few wraps of electricians tape. |
