Guess I will try this one last time before giving in to Winter. I see Greg M is crazy lost insane must keep fishing muskies or he will POP, so maybe there will be a report from a pool in a river open because of current or something. How about the South, and the East? Any action?

I was at Thorne Bros. on Saturday. Does that count? Oh, by the way I was NOT looking at ice fishing stuff.

I didn't even go look at the lake this weekend because of the below freezing temps last week, I'm sure it is iced over.  It was 36 degrees last Sunday when I got out with Kly and ChadG.  I did manage to land a 33" thanks to Kly for the net job.  I hate to do it, but I think I'm putting the boat in storage next weekend and getting ready to chase Bambi.  Good luck to anyone who's got open water yet!!

already having the boats winterized, we did a little shore casting. found an open lake and casted for an hour or so. No follow/no strikes. Still had fun casting.

I got a little action this weekend. That's all I'm saying. Hoping to fish this next weekend.

Pewaukee lake has 2 inches of ice and 4 less walleyes in it. We caught fish from just short to 19 inches. Lots of flags in the 4 hours we fished from my brothers house. Fish were working the inner weed lines 30ft from shore.

Football and walleyes !!!!

I managed to get the boat in but had no takers. Water was 38 degrees with ice in the coves. Now I'm just waiting for the ice!

Trollling schools of shad at Green river and Dale Hollow has been turning up some big fatties on the sunny days. Casting laaaard gliders seems to get a few fish on green river as well

Good fishin Chris Haley

I just found this sight. Great musky information. I fish in eastern PA on local rivers. I landed a 38" and 39.5" Tiger last weekend on Mantas. I fish all winter long assuming there is no ice and do pretty well but am really at the mercy of the weather. The rivers in PA are now raging and I should be shut down for a week or more. Last year I possibly caught the last musky in the US. Dec 31st 3:30 PM 35" Tiger.

Greg

River Muskies, funny coincidence, I was actually OUT fishing last Dec. 31st, on a river in SW PA, but we didn't catch anything. As a matter of fact, the water was so high and fast that we didn't have enough trolling motor to make it upstream to our spots, lol.

Tomyv,
In the winter, I fish by wading key areas I know are holding fish. Last December the water was high but fishable in SE Pa. The fish this time of year are definitely holding in key eddy areas and if they are not iced over, the action can be good if you are persistent. Do you focus on rivers or lakes in Western Pa.

I focus on the rivers. I fish a handful of lakes, but locally I stick with the rivers for the most part. I'm hoping this is one of those years that we can fish all year. But it's not looking good at this point. This weekend is Devoted to chasing muskies. Generally I have open water on and off through the winter. I've caught a lot of fish with jigs, just nothing even remotely big this time of year, go figure, lol.
