| This is a question for guys from the Chicago area who may have been in a similar position. I have a Tuffy X-170 in Northern Wisconsin. I live in a close-in suburb north of Chicago. I have always kept the boat in Wisconsin over the winter for two reasons - 1) I don't have garage space for it and 2) I never had a tow vehicle that I would be comfortable making a long trip with.
I now have a tow vehicle that would be up to the job, but nowhere to store the boat. Is there a place where a person could, for a reasonable expense, store a boat over the winter and be able to pull it out a few times in late September/October and early spring to use locally, weather permitting? Is this even worth the effort and expense given the short time I would be able to use it locally before Memorial Day and after mid-September or early October?

Location: oswego, il | I can Remember indoor storage being 120 a month 20 years ago. No electricity. Maybe someone offering a private space cheap would be your best option.

| Thanks for the thoughts. Live in Evanston on a city sized lot. Really no options for storing on our property. Been looking for options, but leaning towards its just not possible. Anyone has a brainstorm, I'd be glad to hear it. Otherwise, the boat stays up north again. |

| Live in city of Chicago now and used to live in Evanston, so I know what you mean about Lot size/limited options. Not sure its a brainstorm, but if you've got enough garage height(or willing to raise roof) consider a lift for boat/trailer with vehicle underneath. Having rig at your disposal may open your mind to new offseason angling opportunies south, east and west as well. |

| I live in Evanston too, I actually store my boat in Antioch, quite a few places that do boat storage near the chain. I keep it there year round I'm 2 minutes from the launch. I would check around that area, happy to ask my renter if he has any short term option for you. |

| Something I have seen done where lot was narrow but moderately deep is to put a door on the back of the garage, back the boat through the garage, park it in the back yard. |
