Location: Belgium | has anyone tried this? I have some burts and I can retrieve the unweighted model so it snakes through the water so I was wondering whether I could troll these as well. Or would it be better to use the weighted model? How deep can you get it to run (approximately). |

Location: Chicago, IL | Unweighted Burts are tremendous shallow water trolling baits. They have the same swing to them on a troll as they do on a straight retreive. I would even try trolling some of the squirrely versions. I have found that a bait that does not have the action I am looking for witha cast can often be a great troller.
2'-4' is all you will get out of a Burt on the troll... the deeper it goes the less swing it will have generally.
I have never trolled the weighted versions.

Location: Chicago, IL | You should not have to do any additional tuning to make a burt run on the troll. The only thing you will have to play around with is speed. Too fast and you will have a blowout problem. However, an occasional blowout is a good thing in my opinion. The surface is an edge so if you have a burt that swings well to both sides on the troll combined with a blowout here or there... you have a solid shallow water troller. |
