Went out today for a little late season troll. The hogs are fat and still eating, right? Recently had a 40+ pounder and a 38 pounder caught on St Clair. Air was supposed to be about 50. Water was 47. Wind was blasting. Waves were crashing over the front of the Princecraft(had to do some fast talking to convince my buddy to pull out the boat, he wanted to be in a tree). I had on long johns, sweatshirt, fleece pull-over then rain gear (lots of spray), hat, gloves...etc. We gave it 6 hours without a single rip. I'm home now blowing my nose and sneezing. Dang, what a wuss!

You guys dealing with Ice and snow are better men than me. Tougher too I guess. I should have went to the woods!

When he dropped me off I said "I'm done for the year". I'll probably try to get out again anyway. I have until Dec 15th.

Well, you are from michigan, probably a fan of the wuusiest team in the NFL.;-) You'll never be a tough as us frozen tundra flatlanders. Got rained on all day last weekend, had the snowmobile suite on the weekend before. I will put 12 or so hours on the water tomorrow.

he he, I hate the Lions! but that was a different post. Funny, I can stay up in a tree in way colder weather but in the water kicks my fanny. Lake St Clair is a crazy lake too. 2 foot waves get you soaked. They hit you from all directions and the wind carries it to your face. Trolling with the wind is nice but you are soon 26 miles from the launch and into the wind/waves all the way back.We didn't even go where we thought they were because it was too rough to go that far. Crossed our fingers in a less productive area. Still beats the heck out of working!

Lobi, you want to hear crazy, these two hillbillies pull up at this gas station I was at pulling a stick steer crappie john. They asked me where I fished and I asked them. Port of indiana they said and showed me three lake trout they had on ice. There boat was not 70" wide and you have to run a mile of the big lake to get to the harbor.

We were like 8 to 10 miles from where we should have been and knew it. The ramps at that end of the lake were all locked up for the season. Wind was blowing so hard down that way it would have been a fast dry ride to get there but might have killed us trying to get back. We wimped out and fished much less promising waters and took the skunk.

My brother likes to say (this was us I guess) "There is no such thing as bad weather, Just improper gear".

I've been stuck at home with my 4 boys for a couple of days while my wife romps all over the malls and hotels with her girlfriends. They saw fit to make her birthday a 2 full day credit card bruising weekend. Can't complain, I've sure had a lot of days on the water and in the woods. Getting stir crazy tho not hunting. I keep sneeking down to the woods out back by my stand to see if there is any deer activity.
