Posts: 1936 Location: Eau Claire, WI | Have a safe season....and best of luck to you and your camp. There is already a parade of vehicles passing through Eau Claire loaded with blaze orange and anxious hunters. On behalf of the MuskieFIRST staff..."Let's be careful out there"...

Posts: 5874 | I'll be leaving at high noon tomorrow for the killing fields. Promises to be an exciting hunt this year, as it will Eric's first. He's been out with me a few times in previous years, but this will be his first attempt to kill a deer. And we will be carefull. Hope everybody has a safe, successful, and memorable hunt this year.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Mark, you beat me to the post. I too am going up Friday morning to get things ready for the hunt. This will be my daughters first time without dad by her side. Two years she has hunted with dad and now its time for her to take the first step hunting on her own. What a proud father I am. We will be shooting again tonight and I will be going over all of the situations that might come up. I will be in constant contact with her in the woods and close by. She shot her first doe two years ago and passed on two small bucks last year on opening day while hunting with dad. She said to me "do I have to shoot a little buck" as we watched a spike and a forkie fight on Saturday morning. I told her its up to you, all deer are trophys at some time in you life. I just wan't to wish all a safe and happy deer hunt. Take the time in the woods and relax from all the crazy things in life that will await you when you get back home or back at work. Good luck to all !!!

Posts: 18 Location: Madison Wisc | My season started about 3 weeks ago since I hunt in the CWD eradication area by Madison Wisconsin. It never will be the same with no opening day like what the rest of the state has. You have not seen anything till you see hunters throwing their deer away at the DNR registeration station to help eradicate the herd. The whitetail deer even has a bounty on them with $200 going to anyone who shoots a CWD postive testing deer. The deer has a status of the rodent now in the CWD areas. Hopefully we will keep the CWD in check so the rest of the state never experiences this. Good Luck to all!
