On our last two outings as part of our offerings we were throwing Bucher Tail 500's. We found that two of the baits had issues right out of the packaging. I appears the top tinsel did not lay back properly resulting in the blade starting late or sometimes not at all. Our fix was to hold bait upright and use a heat gun to very, very gently warm the tinsel which allows it fall back towards the hook and away from the blade. Thought??

When I look at some pictures, it looks like that could be a common problem with the tinsel interfering with the blades.

It's a pain when anything doesn't work right out of the box. I have found that I have to use Shoe Goo on some new crankbaits that fill up with water right out of the box. When it comes to spinners, everyone should watch Doug Wegner's video on re-tying your own spinners. He talks about blade spacing in relation to tinsel. Picking up a few 3/8 beads and some .062 wire could make a lot of non-working spinners into rock-stars.

Ya; by the looks of that tail...definitely a problem.  Blades should not Touch skirting, or even the thread for that matter. You need to rewire, add a few beads, or spacer.  If you could get a piece of shrink tubing over that skirt, maybe you could pinch the skirting down a bit at top, so it doesn’t come into play. Or possibly a dental band.

If you were in SE WI. I’d rewire it for you;)
