I certainly cannot take credit for this it was shown to me by someone a long time ago. It's a great way to shorten the weight make the skirt flare on a shorter skirt. You just have to make sure the hole is lined up so it does not closed off when using the vise. Shortening any more than this and the lead will start to split. If you don't have the weight really straight you have to drill baby drill.

Yep Todd; old trick! Guy back in the 80’s, from our Milwaukee Chapter M.I. Built a buck tail Called it the “Dog House Buck”. He squashed the Egg sinker on his Builds...Right Darrel???

or you might be able to remove a couple beads off the front end and get similar results

As a general rule I gap the blades within a bead length of the skirt. If you allow the blades to overlap the skirt you can have trouble starting the blades on a retrieve. I won't mention a brand but I had friends give me that bucktail to rewire for that reason I had a conversation with them about it They have long since corrected the problem.

neat trick, ive cut larger weights in half to get a lager profile with less weight before, this will let me use some of my existing stuff leftover from my dads river sinker collection, awesome

I tested the plastic blades and they do not work as a double. The single works spins well but does head shake the short bait. I am going to make it into a double skirt setup and will work great.
