New TI-Vexan PRO Blanks are Indestructible - Gator Tested

These new blanks have actually been integrated as far back as 18 months ago on all TI-Vexan rods. All Tackle Industries XH and most of the XXH pounder rods are now using these new blanks and all Vexan rods use these new PRO blanks. 20% lighter and 20% stronger. This was a 700lb+ gator and was one of more than 40 gators we got last you on one TI-TANK XH action rod in Florida. Incredible action, strength and super light rods! These new blanks can throw light lures like a dream but can take abuse form monster fish! No Qs asked lifetime warranty too. Less than a 2% breakage and that includes all manufacturing and user breaks! Industry standards range from 4% to around 6%.

Come check them out at the upcoming Minneapolis Musky Expo. We will have the all new TI adn Vexan PRO rods in the booth too for $200 and those have WINN grips and the new Revolution reel seats on them from Outdoor Grips.

So you snag the gator and shoot it, or bait a hook?
Sorry no gators near me. Cool mount.

Does this include the 9'6"+ tele TI rods? Do the 9'6" XXH have these blanks?

Tackle Industries - 3/10/2020 8:34 AM
20% lighter

According to your website, a 9' XH blank is 6.2 oz and a 9' XXH blank is 9.8 oz. Given that, is it accurate to say the new XH rods will be about 1.25 oz lighter and the new XXH rods will be about 2 oz lighter than their previous counterparts? Or that the new XXH will be about 1.5 oz heavier than the old XH? Trying to get a handle on the impact this will have on the feel of the rod. Do you have a list of rod weights for completed rods anywhere?

These we used 10/0 weighted hooks to catch with the TANK XH casting.trolling rods. It was a blast! Nothing like catch-n-release on about 40 gators! That alone is worth the tirp.

Sorry, I am not sure where you are seeing these rod weights on my site. The weight of the rod is not listed but they are all between 10-13oz..
Thanks

Weighed my TI rods today. I have two 9'6" XXH that came in at 14.9 oz, and a 9'6" XH that came in at 12.7 oz. Given all of the above information, I would assume the new 9'6" XXH would come in at 13 oz, and the new 9'6" XH at 11.5 oz.

That might seem like hair splitting, but there is a noticeable difference between the weight of my current XXH and XH. Really the only complaint I have about the XXH is that it is a hair heavy; the XH is more comfortable to use.

For comparison, on the more expensive end you have St. Croix and Chaos 20/20 which offer 9-10' XXH options in the 11.x oz range. The standard Chaos 9'6" XXH and SC Premier 9' are similar to TI in price and come in at 14.6-14.75 oz. Seems like you have found a very good price/weight compromise.

Can you confirm the 9'6" XXH have these new blanks? If not now, when will they be available?

I really like the look of those new blanks I might have to get one. So do all of your musky rods use them or is it only the pro musky model with the Winn grips and revolution reel seat? I really love light rods and it would be great to have a more affordable option that isn’t going to break the bank

James, are the blanks you are selling these new blanks also, or are they only available as finished rods at the moment?

We are making PRO blanks now. All in 9ft telescopic. Our production rods have been in the process of moving over to the new PRO blanks for the last 18 months. We only recently started talking about it. Most are moved over now. Had to wait to talk about it until most models were using the new blanks. As you can imagine, most would want rods with the new blanks

The 96 rods do not have the new blanks. Due to low sales the 96, 10 and 106 tele rods will be discontinued in 2021. LOL we made them too long. ha ha

Maybe if you offered the 10' and/or 10'6" in a two piece?

We have a 9ft 2pc and only sell that mainly to travelers. I do sell a decent amount of them every year though as not many companies make a 2pc musky rod... In fact, I think I am the only one making them right now specifically for musky. I have a lot of ppl though who of course use them for other species

That's really disappointing. Obviously you have the sales data, but it sure seems like there is a desire for rods >9' in the muskie world. St. Croix now has 10' rods, Chaos has 9'6" in both of their lines, and many people seem to get custom TB Predator in 9'6" or 9'8." Some others are the same (Shimano, Okuma, etc). Personally, I have had a number of 9' and 9'6" TI rods and I prefer the 9'6."

The one mistake I think you did make is too many offerings - no need for a 9'6", 10', and 10'6" in all 3 powers. Would you consider offering a single size in just XH and XXH? I would suggest picking 9'6" or 10' or an in-between length.

Am I correct in assuming none of the 10 or 106 rods have the new blanks either?

Correct, the 96, 10 and 106 rods have what I call a Generation III blank on them. They are far superior blanks vs what we used 10 years ago. We are on Gen IV blanks now and I nick named them the "Pro" blanks.
