Subject: G-Ma deep diver. How is lip attached?

I recently purchased two G-Ma 6" deep divers and noticed that the line tie is connected to the diving lip which appears to be glued into the body of the bait. Is this true? If so, has anyone ever had one fail? For if it would fail, all you would reel in is the lip!
