Hey

I am going to buy one of these scales for weighing Muskies. Just wondering if anyone knows where I could pick one of these up around Ontario. I lve in Milton so the closer to here the better. And I was just wondering what would be better the 100 pound scale which I know is plenty heavy enough or the 200 pound just cause they are the same price i think. Anyways thanks a lot! Good luck with the skies this fall

Should be able to order them through Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops. Difference between the scales is the increments are obviously bigger on the 200 lbs scale.

What are you weighing with them? You must catch over 50 pounders. They have a 50 pound that would be much more accurate to read if that is enough. They are great scales, I have the 50.
The fishing stores probably won't stock anything higher than the 50. You might have to contact Chatillon themselves. Here ya

go..http://www.chatillon-scales.com/products/in_series.html

Had to edit the post..I'll bet you are fishing GB (home of the whoppers). You better get the 100 pounder. I think it is the biggest of the fishing size scale anyway.

Hey

ya I am probably going to go with the 100 pound scale it should be good enough. And its probably better because it goes by smaller incraments. The 50 pound one wouldn't be big enough seeing that I am fishing Georgian Bay and you never know when you could set into a 60 pounder or even 55. Thanks for the link to their web site though! I'll check it out.

I guess I will stick with my Shimano scale, god $170 US is a lot of cash for a scale I may use a handfull of times every year max. I don't need to weight fish in the 30s as I already know how our fish compare to the formula.

I have the 50 and will say it doesn't hurt to have a smaller sized one along with the bigger size as it is harder to get very accurate if weighing something like a 8lbs walleye or 5lbs bass with the 50 or 100. I have heard that these can be certified also. Anyone else ever hear that?

Yes they can be certified, so I figured if I am going to be Muskie Fishing On the bay every weekend I might as well have one just in case. When you buy them they are not certified you have to get them certifed afterwards i think. I am going with the 100 lber forsure. I would hate to have a 60 + pounder in the boat and not have a scale.

You can send your scale to IGFA for certifacation. This has to be done if you ever catch a record fish. They do charge for it and they require you to be a member (also a charge). I have not sent my Chatillon to them however because when I called them and talked to them they told me that the scale could be certified after catching a fish. If you ever catch a record (or think so) make sure to get pictures and witnesses. Here is the link to IGFA..
