| Can anyone recommend a 7.5 to 8 foot rod for big gliders such as the 10 inch phantom and hellhound which are 10oz lures? Also to be used for large WTD lures like the 10 inch weagle. I'm not looking to spend a lot or invest in a custom because it's a limited application. Thanks for the help. |

| The jerk, it handles big baits very well but can also throw very light stuff, great rod for gliders and jerkbaits, dnR baits |

| I plan on buying a 7'6" TI XH for this. I currently only have longer rods and yes, side to side works, but I like being able to snap the rod straight down, in particular for jerk baits. I currently have a 7'6" but it is rated MH and probably is not even that stiff, just not enough for heavier lures. |

Location: Contrarian Island | for me, working them to the side my hookup % went way up... been going it that way 15 yrs... when they eat it you have the rod in a perfect spot to just pivot your body... seems the guys I know that complain about glider hookups all work the rod down... |

| I too prefer to snap the rod straight down. Just too many years doing it. It is autopilot now, kind of like tying your shoes. My last rod was a 7'6", and it was just a few inches too long. Kept hitting the water with the tip. Got a 7' Premier heavy, and am very happy with it. I've always been a little perplexed by all the talk of trouble hooking up with walk the dogs, particularly jackpots. I've never really had an issue with them, and I love to throw them. I do have fish that swing and miss at it, quite often, but I don't try setting the hook on them. I wait until the fish takes all the slack out, before I ever set the hook. Usually, if they have tightened my line, I can get a hook up. |

| I too use my Big Nasty for big gliders. Really performs well. Especially for those bigger/heavier ones.
I still like and use my 7.5 Bulldog Pro rod for glide baits, too. It works good, but it excels with some smaller glides whereas the Big Nasty isn't as good for the smaller ones.
So yah, if you are looking for a rod for big glides, I can second the recommendation for the Big Nasty. |

This right here !00%...I Use my big nasty if I don't have Big dawg with me. If you running big glides though the Big Dawg is the only way to roll. 8" heavyweight thrown on a Big Dawg is Just a Dirty Combo and you can drive hooks home on those big wood baits and not worry about your Rod having enough backbone to get the Job done..
I started throwing glides on smaller 7'6" rods and like stated above a short rod isn't needed for Glides. Granted very rearly do I throw a Glide that isn't a 7 or 8 Heavyweight which are bigger heavier Glides which the Big Dawg just shines with both these baits baits just dance side to side and you can make them belly Roll hard with very little effort when using the Big Dawg..
