looking for the old school wood phantoms, 7.5" with 3 hooks. No soft tail stuff. Those are plastic.

Wood Phantoms back in the day also had soft tail models. Those were the best

Here's a question for the old timers, who made phantoms before Odyssey lures. I have a og phantom and a couple of og provokers.

Todd Cleveland bought 'The Natural' from Bob Szczesny and turned it into The Phantom. Todd Cleveland eventually took on partners and, later, left Phantom to start his own venture called Sinister Tackle prior to his untimely passing in 2018.

Was it called Bob and marks custom lures at 1 point I can't remember. I bought the Phantom and 2 provokers from the Chicago show way back in the day I think I was 14 at the time. The provoker was a through wire.

I have the good fortune of having 3 org Phantoms (orange belly perch, walleye, and crappie) 2 Natural jerk baits (white belly perch and chartreuse with little lack dots.
The best of all is a Natural Crank bait . White belly perch.
And if I need a tail on the end I just remove the rear hook and thread a mogambo on the hook.

I am curious what the old wooden phantoms look like? I have a wooden glider that I was told was phantom, but later fond out it might not be one.

The hook hangers are an obvious tell it is not a Phantom. It is a very simple shaped lure which is easy to duplicate in your basement and I suspect is exactly the origin of this lure. That certainly doesn't make it a bad lure. Throw it and see if you like it.
